My No-Shame Chocolate Mousse is rich, creamy and tastes decadent without any of the usual guilt or shame. It comes together fast and will satisfy your chocolate craving in a jiffy. This recipe is both 21-Day Sugar Detox and vegan friendly.
This recipe is inspired by two recipes that are both fantastic in on their own. First, the recipe in The 21-Day Sugar Detox book uses a green-tipped banana and avocado. The avocado gives it a richness that does not taste weird at all. The banana adds natural sweetness without adding additional sugar. But to me, it was a bit thick and hard to process. Urban Poser has a recipe using coconut cream, cocoa powder, vanilla and honey. I decided to combine the two.
My recipe is rich and creamy, with minimal sugar and an added kick of gelatin. The coconut cream helps smooth out the recipe and the avocado and banana give it body and richness. You can omit the gelatin if you do not have it or choose not to use it, although this is a great way to sneak a little in for some added gut-healing and protein. If you are doing The 21-Day Sugar Detox, omit the honey and use a green-tipped banana.
No-Shame Chocolate Mousse
Ingredients:
The cream of one can of coconut milk (see below)
1 ripe avocado
1 ripe banana (use a green-tipped banana for 21DSD)
3 tablespoons of cocoa
2 tablespoons honey, or to taste (omit for 21DSD)
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 tablespoon Great Lakes cold soluble gelatin (omit for vegan)
Directions:
Place the can of coconut milk in the fridge overnight. After it chills, open the can and carefully scoop out the cream that has floated to the top, leaving the liquid at the bottom. Place the cream in a food processor or blender.
Slice up the avocado and banana and add to the food processor along with the honey, cocoa, vanilla and gelatin.
Process until smooth.
